Adjusting

Nourished by a density of musical contributions from diverse origins and rich in his gwoka culture, all these musics brought together through his compositions create totally unpredictable new data, the common denominator of which remains jazz.

With this second opus, Arnaud Dolmen reveals more of himself, as much as a composer of new sound lines and colors, in a singularity all his own, as in free playing techniques and a profoundly jazz aesthetic. The title track "The Gap" is built around a central element: the drums, which act as a link with each of the instruments. As such, it plays the role of a harmonic instrument, that of the piano, the accompaniment instrument par excellence, taking on a character other than that usually reserved for it in the distribution of playing, namely, marking rhythmic accents and regulating tempo. The drums are at the very heart of a singularity.
